What to expect

When you arrive at the Mystwood Professional Building, you are welcome to park anywhere in the parking lot, with the exception of the fire station. The address is on our building as well as a sign with a list of names (mine included) next to the building’s entrance doorway, which will bring you into the waiting room. You will need the door code to get in and this will be provided upon scheduling an appointment.

Once inside the waiting room, there is a panel of buttons with each practitioners name. Press the one under my name, just once, and it will let me know you have arrived.

Intake

A session usually begins with a discussion of your primary physical concerns, as well as any major events, injuries, or traumas. I then take this information into account while mapping out possible trigger point involvement, along with considering what else might be involved anatomically, in order to develop a plan for treatment.

I may evaluate your posture, looking for any outstanding patterns that could be contributing to current conditions. It can be helpful to stand in front of a mirror so that you can see these patterns for yourself. Mostly, however, I have found palpation to be my best assessment tool to find where soft tissue restrictions are in the body.

In the hands-on portion of our session, I will utilize a variety of techniques including trigger point therapy, myofascial release, and deep tissue massage. I like to work as deep as will be effective and beneficial, but not so deep as to be counterproductive. This work can be somewhat intense at times, but overall there mostly tends to be a sense of relief that accompanies any discomfort. Overall, in addition to finding relief, people primarily experience a strong sense of getting back in touch with their bodies.
